Welcome to The C.C.S.G. Website.

This years Carers Christmas weekend away started
a bit shaky, the morning started quite Foggy and at
one point it looked like we would have to abandon
the planned visit to Skipton market and just go strait
to the hotel in Harrogate, luckily the fog started
to clear and with information that the road to Skipton
had been opened again we got to Skipton for people to
do some shopping and have lunch, Skipton was bitterly
cold but didn’t stop the hardened shoppers amongst
us from braving the chill.

We then left Skipton and continued our journey to
the hotel that was our home for the weekend,
you can see from the two pictures below that it was
a grand place, it was in fact Harrogate’s first purpose
built hotel back in 1671.

In Harrogate they had a lot more snow than in
Wigan but it seemed warmer, we did get some more
snow on the Friday night but didn’t give us any
problems, most people made the short walk into
town on the Saturday to do some
Christmas shopping.

Our evening meal was served in the grand
ballroom and later people could relax and
socialise in the more than comfortable lounge.
Some people decided it was time to go and
make a snowman, they braved the snow and
set to work.

It was decided that the snowman should
have a name, someone said they
wanted to call it Alan in honour of our
Chairman who wasn’t on the trip.

Even the kitchen staff contributed to the
snowman by giving them a carrot for a
nose and some plums for eyes.

The weekend finished with a visit to Boundary
Mill on the way back home on Sunday,
we had a lovely weekend, plenty of winter
sunshine in Harrogate, as we arrived back in
Wigan it was exactly the same as when we left on
the Friday, foggy.
The last two pictures show some of
the 200 acres of park land that the
hotel fronted onto.
